SUMMARY:Finding Dragons! (Hague Nature Preserve)
DESCRIPTION:Blue-ringed Dancer damselfly (Photo by Jim Osborne) \nFinding Dragons!\nPROGRAM LIMITED TO TEN PARTICIPANTS\nRegistration Required\n(see below) \nSaturday\, August 8\, 2026\n9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. \nWe will hunt for dragon and damselflies along Sycamore Creek in Hague Preserve.  If you have any\, bring insect nets as we will attempt to capture some to examine and photograph prior to releasing them.  Bring your camera! \nThere will be a 1/2-mile hike from the parking area to the program site.  This section of the preserve is being restored and is shrubby\, so wearing long pants is strongly recommended.  You may also want to wear a long-sleeved shirt or arm sleeves for protection.  Don’t forget your sunscreen\, a sunhat\, and/or insect repellent. \nKeep in mind\, there are no restrooms in this location. \nRegistration Required\nThis program is open to all ages and is limited to 10 participants.  To enhance the experience\, we’re keeping the group small.  Please\, let us know you wish to attend by sending an email to haguefnd@gmail.com.  The first ten registrants will receive a confirmation by email that includes details about the meeting time and place in Pickerington.  Each registrant or the parent/guardian of a minor must agree to the terms of a Release and Waiver of Liability (printable version).  Please print and complete the form and bring it with you\, or you can fill out a form upon arrival.  (If your email is received after the program is full\, you will receive a reply letting you know you’ve been put on the waiting list.)  Parking is limited; carpool if possible. \nVolunteer Hours\nParticipants can earn volunteer hours for time spent at this program by adding their observations to the Hague Nature Preserve project on iNaturalist. The Bill & Joyce Hague Foundation is a partner with Care and Share Time Bank and will approve volunteer hours for scouting\, National Honor Society\, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists\, and other organizations that promote community service. \nREMINDERS \nExcept for prearranged visits and special events such as this one\, Hague Nature Preserve is not open to the public. \nWhile in Hague Nature Preserve we should not disturb the wildlife inhabitants and native plant life. There is a no alcohol\, no smoking policy in the preserve. \nNo Pets\nPets are never permitted in nature preserves. \nWhat to Bring\nPotable water is not available at this location; bring your own drinking water. Depending on weather conditions and the time of year\, you may want to bring sunscreen and/or insect repellent. Dress for the day’s weather including appropriate footwear for muddy or slippery conditions. \nBefore You Go\nOur outdoor events and programs are held rain or shine.
