Pickerington-based environmental foundation is seeking to fill a part time position.
Job Title: Seasonal Conservation Technician
Job Purpose: To help maintain the Hague Nature Preserve located in Pickerington, Ohio.
Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to removal/treatment of invasive flora, planting/maintenance of trees from seed to maturity throughout the Preserve. Recruit and supervise a small staff of volunteers. Maintain hand tools. Assist with public visitation / programming in the Preserve.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to identify the various non-native invasives or be willing to learn.
- Knowledge of central Ohio geology, plants and animals helpful.
- Must be able to operate hand pruners, loppers, backpack sprayers, dibble bar and various other hand tools.
- A forest pest control license is required and must be able to work safely with herbicides wearing required PPE.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and able to work effectively as part of a small team.
- Able to work outside in variable weather conditions.
- Able to safely traverse wet, rough, uneven, and rocky terrain on a regular basis.
- Able to complete routine forms.
Working Days and Times
This job is seasonal and scheduled from April through October. Hours/schedule are flexible due to weather but are generally 750-1,200 hours per year.
Wage: $20 per hour
