How did we celebrate Earth Day 2026? Tree Planting at Hague Nature Preserve on Saturday, April 25. The preserve was an Earth Day Columbus service site. Volunteers planted 1,774 trees!

Identifying the Root Collar of a Just-Planted Tree
Volunteers arrived with smiles and enthusiasm to plant about ten species of native trees, helping our efforts to reforest an area west of Sycamore Creek in Hague Nature Preserve. Tim, Greg, Tammy, and David provided helpful planting tips-n-tricks and explained how to identify the root collar on a bare-root tree. Then, everyone grabbed gloves, shovels, trowels, and seedlings, and got to work!
