DYK… Dragonflies belong to the order Odonata, which is Greek for ‘toothed one’, even though they don’t really have teeth. They do have a serrated mandible that allows them to catch, hold, and crush prey that they catch in flight. Since adults eat only what they catch in air, the ability to hold on to what they catch is vital.
During our Hunting Dragons program, several dragonflies were observed and we were able to examine and photograph a few.
