OSU Students Volunteer in Hague Nature Preserve (March 2023)
In March 2023, Ohio State University students Jacob Radcliffe, Madeline Watson, Imani Coger, Ashley Murphy visited Hague Nature Preserve. They came bearing gifts of Black Willow cuttings. These cuttings will help add more native shrubs to a wet portion of a field that is being reforested.
The students shadowed our board member Jim Osborne and volunteer Judd Clover for a few hours and discussed plans for restoration. The group identified invasive plants along the creek and learned how to remove winter creeper vines. It was a great day! Ashley even returned a week later to help remove honeysuckle and have more fun with Jim to identify native wildflowers and shrubs.
If you have a desire to volunteer, learn, and have fun at the preserve, contact info@billjoycehaguefoundation.org.
